Visiting D.C. during peak bloom of the Cherry Blossom season has been something I've wanted to do for years and the stars aligned and I was able to see the beauty in person this year.

The Cherry Blossom trees were a gift from Japan in 1912 and the most beautiful spot to view them is around the Tidal Basin overlooking the Jefferson Monument. The National Cherry Blossom Festival lasts for 3 weeks and draws over a million visitors to D.C. This was a completely last minute trip, booked on Sunday and flew out Tuesday morning so my time to pick out outfits was limited but I found some great spring items that I enjoyed wearing on our trip. From Panama City it actually was an easy flight, with a quick layover in Atlanta each way and the the second leg of the flight was only about 90 minutes. I'm all for short flights and short trips. A quick getaway is always welcomed compared to a long trip for me.

My favorite things to in Washington, D.C.

1) Walk around...so simple, wear comfortable shoes and just go walk. I have stayed at The Hay-Adams before and wanted to stay there again for this trip because it is so convenient and the view of the White House doesn't hurt either. These APL SHOES were perfect for all the walking.

2) Visit Georgetown...I feel like Georgetown is the SoHo of D.C. All of the cute stores, dessert shops and the best Mexican restaurant are in Georgetown. A friend recommended El Centro D.F. last time and we loved it so ofcourse I went back for lunch and it is delicious Mexican food!

3) Walk around the monuments...duh, they are especially beautiful at sunset and lit up at night.

4) Visit some hotel bars...The Hay-Adams had a great bar, politics aside the Trump has a nice bar, the rooftop at the W are just a few places to stop for a drink.

5) Visit the Library of Congress...this was my favorite place and if you take the proper identification you can get a library card and go inside the actual library (you aren't able to do that on the tour). I just think it's beautiful!

6) Nationals baseball game, I didn't go this time but I've been before and for a person who isn't a fan of baseball it was a great time. Highly recommend even if you don't like watching baseball!

The view from our room at The Hay-Adams

Everyday we would walk down to the Basin, some times it was extremely crowded and other times the crowds weren't bad.

I wore one of these pairs each day

I will be wearing this dress on repeat, a high low, wrap dress and so soft!

This top was so flattering!

This sweater has great neon details!
